What is this tool?
Do you fancy watching a movie but not finding anything that looks good? My random movie generator may just be what you have been looking for.
The tool uses a database of roughly 430,000 movies from around the world. You can refine the randomness by restricting the year, genre and minimum rating to improve the chances of you finding something you'll like.
Update 2023-01-29: 2023 movies now added.
Update 2022-01-21: 2022 option is now available in the year selection.
Update 2021-11-12: Added watch providers AMC Plus, Paramount Plus, Apple TV Plus, Peacock Premium and BritBox.
Update 2021-04-19: You can now get random films in different languages from Hindi to Swedish. The default setting is English. The main function has also been tweaked to help return the best movies.
Update 2021-04-19: Now you can get films on premium streaming services. Select the service from the "available on" drop down menu, then select your region. The default setting is to not filter by any service. The following services are supported:

Update 2020-09-22: You can now select a decade to get random movies from. The decades start from the 2010s and go back to the 1950s.
